About
Lui Hon-Chiu learned Chinese calligraphy from his father at the age of six, in Hong Kong. At eleven he started learning more formal Chinese painting techniques. After moving to the United States, as an adult, he began experimenting with modern impressionist styles. In 1992 he met and befriended Master Sun Yunsheng who was the preeminent student of the world-renowned Chinese artist, Master Zhang Daqian. Over the years Mr. Lui began acquiring and fine tuning his skills under Master Sun’s close supervision. He has created a number of unique masterpieces that have been exhibited throughout Asia since 2000-2001. Mr. Lui’s hope is to incorporate his own passion and style with the art and tradition passed down by his teacher and grand-teacher. His hope is that others can be blessed and encouraged by his east-meets-west modern (color carving) style.
